inside your school

Have a close look around the inside of your school.  Are there any historical pictures or historical artifacts, such as commemorative plaques or trophies, in the hallway or the auditorium?  The dates on the photographs, and the inscriptions on the plaques and trophies, may provide some useful clues to the past.

At the start of your project, make enquiries at the office with the principal or your school secretary.  Many schools keep administrative files containing notes, newspaper clippings, and old programs of special events held in the school.

And don't forget to look for school yearbooks and minutes of student councils meetings.  Old yearbooks and minutes may be stashed in the your school library.

Once you have a few basic clues and reference points, visit your local library  -- or a college or university library, if one is nearby -- for books, periodicals and newspapers.
