Historical things like old fashion desks, school bells and lunch boxes are called
artifacts and artifacts are usually found in museums,
rather than libraries or archives.
Be sure to include your local museum on your research itinerary. Many museums have created heritage schoolrooms which
may be helpful in
reconstructing the past.
And be sure to talk to museum curators. They'll be able to tell you
about material history and how to use artifacts in your research.
Ask them about school-related
artifacts that may be in the museum's collection but not on display.
Most museums belong to the British
Columbia Museums Association.
